A delegation of Tripura BJP tribal leaders convened with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to deliberate on advancing socio-economic development in the state, a party leader reported on Wednesday.
The delegation, led by Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattcharjee, emphasized enhancing benefits for the tribal communities. This meeting coincides with the BJP's efforts to fortify its tribal wing, the Janajati Morcha, ahead of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
The TTAADC region encompasses two-thirds of Tripura's land and houses one-third of its population, predominantly tribal. Notably, the Tipra Motha Party, which allied with the BJP last year, has been governing the TTAADC since 2021. Additionally, a Rs 1,400 crore World Bank-funded initiative aims to uplift tribal-dominated areas, as discussed during the meeting that also saw the attendance of Union Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyel.
