The Sikkim government has announced a new requirement for all societies, associations, and voluntary organizations to renew their registration every two years. This announcement comes as part of the Sikkim Regulation of Societies, Associations and Other Voluntary Organisations Act, 2008.
The notification, issued by Law & Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Suraj Chettri, specifies that failure to renew within the given timeframe will lead to suspension or cancellation without further notice. Organizations are urged to comply within one month from the notice's issuance.
Additionally, the directive mandates that the governing bodies of these organizations must comprise members holding Sikkim Subject Certificates or Certificates of Identification (COI), emphasizing local representation in leadership roles.
