Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, on Tuesday, took a significant step to support families of fallen police personnel by distributing 175 appointment orders on compassionate grounds to dependents. He extended financial aid totaling Rs 5.70 crore to the families of police officers who lost their lives on duty, according to official sources.

The occasion aligned with Police Commemorative Day, held annually on October 21, in tribute to Central Reserve Police Force personnel and other officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. CM Stalin, along with senior officials, laid a wreath at the police memorial to honor their bravery.

In a heartfelt gesture, Stalin personally presented cheques of Rs 1 crore each to the families of late special sub-inspector M Shanmugavel and head constable S Jasmine Milton Raj. The event saw the presence of high-ranking officials, including Chief Secretary N Muruganandham and Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A Arun.
