BJP chief Babulal Marandi has urged Jharkhand's Chief Minister Hemant Soren to initiate a high-level investigation into the alarming import of weapons from Pakistan, allegedly by gangsters in the region. This follows the arrest of five individuals in Ranchi, with three pistols from Pakistan seized.
Authorities claim these arms are smuggled through Punjab via drones. These illegal firearms have been used to intimidate and extort traders across various states, raising concerns of a significant intelligence failure, according to SP Paras Rana.
Marandi highlighted the severe impact on the business community, citing rampant extortion and threats. Many traders are resorting to removing contact details from their businesses or shutting down altogether, as they face an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
