The Uttarakhand High Court has called on Nainital police to take decisive action against Ramnagar BJP leader Madan Joshi, accused of orchestrating communal violence. This directive follows a petition by Noorjahan, the wife of Nasir, a driver assaulted due to accusations surrounding beef transportation.
Noorjahan's lawyer, Advocate Mrinal Kanwar, highlighted that Joshi consistently shared incendiary content on Facebook preceding the unrest. The court instructed the police to prevent Joshi and his followers from posting such material online and to erase existing inflammatory posts.
The police reported that the transported meat was buffalo's, legally certified, countering earlier allegations. The court emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the Supreme Court's Tehseen Poonawalla guidelines on mob violence, warning against political interference. The Nainital police detailed arrests made in the case and continued their inquiry.
