Mohammad Shorab, a notorious gangster from Uttar Pradesh serving a life sentence, was apprehended in Kolkata following his escape from parole. He had been masquerading as an app-cab driver in the Topsia region of East Kolkata since his abscondment.
Shorab, infamous for a spree of violent crimes including multiple murders and robberies across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, was supposed to return to Tihar Jail on July 4 after his parole ended. Instead, he fled to a relative's house, evading authorities until he was caught on Ripon Street by a joint police operation.
The 38-year-old's criminal history traces back to 2005, when he allegedly committed three murders in a single day. After a lengthy incarceration, he was released on parole citing his wife's health issues but chose to abscond. The arrest concludes a multi-agency effort by the Delhi and UP Police to bring him back to justice.
