Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has taken proactive steps to ensure the state's readiness for Cyclone 'Ditwah.' The impending storm in the Bay of Bengal is forecasted to bring significant rainfall to the region, prompting a Red alert for southern and Delta districts.
The weather office predicts that between November 29 and 30, these areas will experience heavy rains, with Chennai also expected to be impacted. Stalin convened a video conference with district collectors to discuss the necessary safety measures and visited the state emergency operation center in Chennai to evaluate the situation.
Officials have been deployed to vulnerable districts with clear instructions to prevent disruptions, including power outages. Camps have been prepared to provide food and essential supplies, and evacuation plans are in place for low-lying areas. Fishermen have been advised to avoid sea ventures as the cyclone approaches shorelines.
