The Karnataka government has launched the Digital e-Stamp (DeS) system to revolutionize document stamping by bolstering security, transparency, and efficiency. According to Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, this initiative allows citizens to generate stamp papers online without relying on agents or intermediaries, thus supporting a paperless governance environment.

In a move towards complete digital registration, the DeS system aims to eliminate vulnerabilities inherent in the traditional stamping process. The service is available 24/7 across India, allowing users to generate Digital e-Stamps from the comfort of their homes, regardless of location. Previously, physical stamp papers were supplied through licensed vendors, a practice discontinued following the Telgi scam exposure.

With the implementation of DeS, citizens can now generate stamps digitally, using Aadhaar-based eSign or DSC for document authentication. This system offers enhanced security features, promises cost savings, and provides a sustainable alternative to physical stamp papers. All digitally stamped documents are securely stored electronically, ensuring legal recognition and protecting against damage or misuse.
