The UMEED Central Portal, a landmark initiative for Waqf property management in India, witnessed the initiation of over 5.17 lakh properties. After a six-month window opened by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, the portal concluded its operations on December 6, 2025, in adherence to the UMEED Act and Supreme Court directives.

As the final deadline approached, the submission frenzy intensified, with multiple workshops and high-level reviews propelling the process forward. Data from the Ministry of Minority Affairs indicates that while 2,16,905 properties received approval, over 2.13 lakh remain pending further review, and 10,869 were rejected.

The initiative highlights a stride toward transparency and modernization in Waqf property administration, showcasing efforts to unlock developmental potential for minority communities. Despite rejecting an extension, Minister Rijiju assured no penalties for upload delays, demonstrating a balanced approach to compliance.
