The Election Commission of India is stepping up its efforts to ensure fair and accurate elections in West Bengal. This week, electoral roll observer C Murugan inspected voter records in the Tiljala area of Kolkata as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Murugan, an IAS officer, joined Booth Level Officers to meticulously examine legacy voter lists and verify parent-linkage documents. This visit follows his previous inspection in Kakdwip, as part of a broader strategy to ensure a clean electoral roll.
The Commission has appointed five senior IAS officers to reinforce the oversight of the SIR process throughout West Bengal. The updated schedule allows until December 11, 2025, for submitting enumeration forms, with the final voter list expected on February 7, 2026.
