Crackdown in Jamtara: Cybercrime Syndicate Busted

In a significant crackdown on cybercrime in Jharkhand, police arrested nine individuals across Jamtara and Deoghar districts. Acting on specific intelligence, law enforcement conducted strategic raids on Tuesday and Monday, respectively, apprehending suspects and confiscating essential equipment used in fraudulent activities.
The arrests, made in Hirapur, Jamtara, revealed a syndicate involved in extensive online fraud. Officials recovered 12 SIM cards and nine mobile phones from the scene. The suspects targeted victims primarily in Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and various parts of Jharkhand, exploiting personal data obtained through financial transaction apps.
In a parallel operation in Deoghar, police nabbed four more suspects, seizing phones and SIM cards. Authorities noted that some individuals had previous charges related to similar cyberoffences. The operations underscore ongoing efforts to curb digital fraud in the region.
