The Karnataka government has taken a significant step towards safeguarding constitutional values by introducing a bill to curb hate speech and hate crimes. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar dismissed criticisms from the opposition BJP, asserting that if they refrained from hate speech, harmony would prevail. He emphasized that the bill does not target political adversaries but is rather a reinforcement of constitutional integrity.

In an unrelated matter, Shivakumar addressed the unfortunate stampede at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, stressing the need for corrective measures to prevent future incidents and preserve Karnataka's reputation. The situation will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting.
