In an effort to raise awareness about constitutional rights, the West Bengal Congress President, Subhankar Sarkar, has announced a large-scale public recitation of the Indian Constitution. The event is scheduled to take place on December 20 in the Dharmatala area of the city.
Named 'Sahasra Kontey Sangbidhan Path', or 'Constitution Reading in Thousand Voices', the initiative will see 100 individuals recite the Constitution on Rani Rashmoni Road. This includes representatives from various communities, religions, castes, and creeds, reflecting the inclusive nature of the occasion.
The public reading is also seen as a symbolic gesture to reinforce democratic values, particularly in light of rising concerns over the protection of constitutional safeguards, according to Sarkar, who spoke to the press about the event.
