India has committed to support Sri Lanka in its relief, recovery, and long-term rehabilitation following Cyclone Ditwah, announced the Indian envoy during a visit to the central province, one of the hardest-hit areas.
The cyclone caused widespread flooding, landslides, and infrastructure collapse, challenging Sri Lanka's disaster-response capacity since mid-November. The Indian High Commissioner, Santosh Jha, visited the severely affected Nelummala village, offering condolences to victims' families.
India, which responded swiftly to Sri Lanka's international appeal for assistance with Operation Sagar Bandhu, continues to provide multidimensional support. The Disaster Management Centre reports high death tolls, prompting Sri Lanka to deploy significant financial resources for recovery.
