Centre Pushes for Diverse Representation in Key Government Posts
The Centre has urged states to nominate women and Scheduled Caste/Tribe officers for key central deputation roles. Nominations should ensure adequate representation and must not be withdrawn once offered, or a five-year debarment might occur. Officers will join central posts through a new portal by 2026.

The Centre is actively encouraging states to nominate women and officers from Scheduled Castes and Tribes for central deputation roles, aiming for adequate representation in key government positions.
In a detailed communique dispatched to state chief secretaries, the Personnel Ministry emphasized that nominees must be officers unlikely to be recalled within a two-year promotion window. These officers will be appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme and as Chief Vigilance Officers in various central government organisations.
The Personnel Ministry has reiterated the importance of ensuring these deputations are not disrupted by nominations being withdrawn, as it can lead to a five-year debarment. Implementation of these changes will be supported by a new nomination portal launching in January 2026.
