Sixteen years after the shocking murder of six family members in Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan district, demand for justice prevails. The Dimoria Bikash Manch petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to examine human rights breaches and push for a thorough and equitable probe.

On December 12, 2009, six individuals, including Harakanta Doloi and his family, were brutally hacked to death in their home by unidentified assailants. It is alleged that their deaths are linked to political interference for land acquisition aimed at building a luxury hotel. Years on, justice remains elusive.

Efforts to impede a legitimate investigation have persisted, with serious allegations pointing towards the involvement of a political leader in 2009. Despite arrests of some officials for evidence tampering, and subsequent CBI intervention, the systemic hurdles remain unyielding.
