The municipal corporation in Dehradun has responded to increasing dog attack incidents by introducing strict regulations for pet ownership. Aimed at curbing attacks by aggressive breeds, such as Rottweilers, these measures include provisions for filing an FIR against an owner if their dog bites someone.
As per the newly formulated Dehradun Dog Licensing Bylaws-2025, dog owners must now secure a license for any dog older than three months. This license, essential for responsible pet ownership, will be valid for one year following the registration or renewal date.
Furthermore, ensuring public safety is a priority, with the requirement of an up-to-date anti-rabies vaccination certificate. This document, which must be provided at the time of registration, underscores the importance of pet health in community safety measures.
