In a significant ruling, a South Korean court has sentenced former President Yoon Suk Yeol to five years in prison. The court found Yoon guilty of obstructing attempts to arrest him following his failed attempt to declare martial law.
The Seoul Central District Court's decision came after evidence demonstrated Yoon's involvement in impeding authorities from executing an arrest warrant linked to his December 2024 martial law declaration.
Additionally, Yoon was convicted of fabricating official documents and failing to adhere to necessary legal procedures. This ruling, which can still be appealed, marks the first legal decision related to Yoon's controversial martial law action.
