Czech Republic Declines Combat Plane Support to Ukraine
The Czech Republic, led by Prime Minister Andrej Babis, has decided against selling or donating light combat planes to Ukraine, despite President Petr Pavel's suggestion. Babis cited the military's need for these planes, maintaining a stance against providing military aid to Ukraine, a position influenced by coalition partners.

The Czech Republic will not be providing light combat planes to Ukraine, Prime Minister Andrej Babis confirmed on Monday. This decision contradicts a proposal by President Petr Pavel, who suggested the possibility of offering such assistance during his recent visit to Kyiv.
In a cabinet meeting, Babis emphasized the Czech army's requirement for the planes, stating they could not be spared. 'The planes are not available and we do not have any other ones,' Babis stated firmly, addressing concerns about potential military aid to Ukraine.
The issue has sparked debate within the Czech government, particularly among Babis's coalition partners from the pro-Russian SPD. Despite President Pavel's support for Ukraine, the current administration remains committed to its previous stance against engaging in military support or contributing to a European Union loan for Kyiv.
