On Tuesday, the Indian government withdrew a significant bill from the Lok Sabha aimed at enhancing trust in governance by amending existing laws. The Union Commerce Minister, Piyush Goyal, sought the withdrawal of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, following feedback from the select committee.
The decision to withdraw the bill underscores the government's commitment to refining its proposals in line with expert recommendations. This withdrawal is permitted under parliamentary rules, which allow a pending bill to be removed with the House's approval.
Officials have indicated that the bill will be reintroduced after incorporating crucial insights from the Lok Sabha select committee. This development marks a continued effort by the government to streamline legal provisions to foster a more trust-based governance model.
