During the Inter-Governmental Negotiations on UN Security Council reforms, Indian Secretary Sibi George stressed the importance of permanent representation from the Global South, echoing the African model's approach. At the 2026 ECOSOC Forum at UN Headquarters, he called for reforms in international financial systems to bridge the $4 trillion Sustainable Development Goals financing gap.

George's visit to the UN also included paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and engaging in discussions on key topics such as UN peacekeeping, reaffirming India's commitment to multilateralism.
