Delhi has witnessed a troubling rise in crimes against Scheduled Tribes (STs), with cases doubling from two in 2023 to four in 2024, according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data. The capital had no reported cases in 2022.

The NCRB's 'Crime/Atrocities against Scheduled Tribes' report indicates a 100 per cent chargesheeting rate for Delhi in 2024. However, no crime rate was provided for the city, given the negligible ST population recorded in the 2011 Census.

Nationally, the cases fell to 9,966 in 2024 from 12,960 in 2023. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan lead with the highest cases. The all-India crime rate against STs was 9.5 in 2024, with a national chargesheeting rate of 81 per cent, the report noted.
