China Endorses Pakistan-Led Mediation in US-Iran Talks
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed support for Pakistan's mediation between the US and Iran amidst ongoing tensions in West Asia. Wang highlights the pivotal role of US-Iran negotiations and underscores China's alignment with multiple diplomatic efforts aiming to encourage peace in the region.
China has expressed its support for mediation efforts led by Pakistan and others in easing the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the critical nature of direct talks between Washington and Tehran, stating, "We support the active mediation by Pakistan and other countries."
During a United Nations Security Council session on Tuesday, Wang highlighted China's broader diplomatic initiatives. "Every step forward in the negotiation brings more hope for peace," he remarked. Wang called for a commitment to a ceasefire, aimed at restoring stability in the Middle East. His comments come after discussions with Pakistan's Field Marshal Munir and amid US criticism of Pakistan's intermediary role.
