Poor Welfare Has Driven India’s Transformation: PM Modi
The Prime Minister said that development becomes meaningful when its benefits reach those who were excluded from opportunities and essential services for generations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the welfare of poor and marginalized citizens has remained at the heart of India's development journey over the past 12 years. Reflecting on the changes witnessed across the country, he noted that every major initiative undertaken by the government has been guided by the principle of Antyodaya, which emphasizes reaching the last person in society.
The Prime Minister said that development becomes meaningful when its benefits reach those who were excluded from opportunities and essential services for generations. He highlighted that government programmes have been designed to improve everyday life and create pathways for social and economic progress.
Welfare Schemes Expand Access to Housing, Healthcare and Basic Services
In a series of posts on X, Shri Modi pointed to several flagship initiatives that have transformed the lives of millions of people across the country. Programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat have expanded access to banking services, sanitation, housing, drinking water and healthcare.
According to the Prime Minister, these schemes share a common purpose of providing dignity and opportunity to citizens. Access to a bank account, a permanent home, clean drinking water, healthcare protection and sanitation facilities has improved living conditions for many families while strengthening their participation in the country's growth story.
He stated that the government's efforts have focused on ensuring that welfare measures produce meaningful changes in people's lives rather than remaining limited to policy announcements.
Technology Strengthens Transparency and Trust in Governance
The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing role of technology in delivering welfare benefits more effectively. He said digital platforms and Direct Benefit Transfer systems have helped ensure that government assistance reaches beneficiaries directly without unnecessary delays or intermediaries.
This technology-driven approach has improved transparency in welfare delivery and reduced leakages that previously affected public schemes. Faster transfers and direct access to benefits have strengthened confidence in governance while making public services more efficient.
Shri Modi noted that the use of digital tools has turned welfare delivery into a more accountable and citizen-focused system. He said the progress made in Garib Kalyan over the past decade has evolved into a broader movement for human empowerment, where economic inclusion and social security work together to improve lives.
The Prime Minister added that these efforts are helping build the foundation of a Viksit Bharat, with development reaching every section of society and creating opportunities for citizens to participate fully in the nation's future.
