SKM's Kala Rai Triumphs Over BJP's Dilli Ram Thapa in Sikkim Election

In a noteworthy turn of events, SKM nominee Kala Rai successfully defeated BJP's Dilli Ram Thapa in the Upper Burtuk assembly constituency, officials confirmed this Sunday.

Thapa, an incumbent MLA and ex-minister, lost by 2,968 votes, with Rai garnering 6,723 votes to Thapa's 3,755.

Sikkim Democratic Front's DB Thapa obtained 1,623 votes, while BK Tamang from CAP-A received 581 votes. The polling took place on April 19, coinciding with the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, and vote counting began at 6 am on Sunday.
