On Monday, senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, gathered for a crucial meeting a day before the Lok Sabha poll results are declared.
The leaders assessed the prevailing political environment, especially in light of exit polls that predict a significant victory for the BJP-led alliance. The opposition INDIA bloc has remained steadfast, rejecting these forecasts and asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is nearing its end.
While the BJP has not officially commented on the meeting, which included party president J P Nadda, it is understood that senior party members also devised strategies to counter the opposition.
A day earlier, a BJP delegation approached the Elections Commission, accusing the Congress and its allies of attempting to undermine the integrity of India's electoral process. The delegation urged the commission to prevent any acts of 'violence and unrest' during the vote counting for the Lok Sabha polls on June 4.
The INDIA bloc leaders have called on the EC to ensure that postal ballots are counted and their results announced before those of EVMs. They emphasized that the poll panel should provide clear guidelines on the counting process and ensure their implementation.
