BJP MP Gopal Jee Thakur on Tuesday clinched a decisive victory, retaining the Darbhanga Lok Sabha seat in Bihar. The Election Commission reported that Thakur defeated his nearest competitor, RJD's Lalit Yadav, by a substantial margin of over 1.78 lakh votes.
Thakur's winning tally hit 5.67 lakh votes, significantly outperforming Yadav, who managed to secure just 3.88 lakh votes. Lalit Yadav, a former state minister, was contesting the election on an RJD ticket.
This result reaffirms BJP's stronghold in the region, showcasing Thakur's sustained popularity and effective campaign strategy.
