BJP Demands Special Session Over Delhi's Water Crisis

The BJP demanded a special session of the Delhi Assembly to address the water crisis blamed on the AAP government's mismanagement. BJP Chief Whip Ajay Mahawar and BJP Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva highlighted the people's struggles, while accusing Delhi's Water Minister Atishi of making false claims.

The BJP on Saturday demanded that the Delhi Assembly speaker call a special session to address the major water crisis impacting the city. They attribute the emergency to the AAP government's ongoing mismanagement of water resources.

In a formal letter to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, BJP Chief Whip in the Delhi Assembly, Ajay Mahawar, argued that the entire city of Delhi is grappling with a severe water shortage amid extreme heat, causing significant public distress.

Mahawar requested an immediate special session to discuss potential solutions and provide relief to the affected population. He criticized prior special sessions for focusing on 'unnecessary' issues while neglecting urgent matters like this water shortage.

Virendra Sachdeva, the chief of BJP's Delhi unit, echoed these demands, urging the Delhi Assembly to prioritize addressing the water crisis that has deeply impacted the capital.

Delhi's Water Minister Atishi has blamed Haryana for not releasing enough Yamuna water, while the Supreme Court recently directed Himachal Pradesh and Haryana to release surplus water to Delhi. Amid accusations and counterclaims, the court stressed the need to keep politics out of water issues.
