In a significant policy shift, South Korea indicated on Thursday that it might supply arms to Ukraine, following a defense pact signed by Russia and North Korea that has raised alarms globally.
A senior presidential official’s remarks came just after North Korea's state media disclosed the details of the agreement, which experts say could be the most substantial alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang since the Cold War ended.
The pact demands mutual military assistance in the event of an invasion, adherence to the laws of both nations, and compliance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. This development has provoked condemnation from South Korean officials, who view it as a security threat and a breach of UN resolutions.
