BJP Leaders Arrested Amid Corruption Allegations Against Karnataka Congress

Opposition BJP leaders in Karnataka, including state president B Y Vijayendra, attempted to besiege the Chief Minister’s office to protest alleged corruption in the ruling Congress government but were taken into preventive custody. The BJP highlighted scams involving alternative sites and funds, demanding a CBI investigation.

On Wednesday, opposition BJP leaders, led by state president B Y Vijayendra, attempted to besiege the chief minister's office-cum-residence in Karnataka, citing rampant corruption by the ruling Congress government. However, police intervention resulted in their preventive custody.

The BJP's claims center on a Rs 4,000 crore scam involving alternative sites in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), allegedly benefiting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife. Additionally, the party flagged a Rs 180 crore scam in the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed the allegations, attributing the alternative sites to a scheme from the previous BJP government. He announced an inquiry and suspended all disputed sites, but he rejected BJP’s calls for a CBI investigation.
