This controversy comes in the wake of a video posted on social media platform X, which showed NCW chairperson Sharma arriving at the scene of a recent stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The TMC criticized Sharma, saying 'She is too busy holding up her boss’s pajamas.'

The BJP national spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla, reacted sharply, stating Moitra's comment reveals the 'true face' of the TMC and the opposition parties' INDIA bloc. Poonawalla also called out other opposition leaders, including those from Congress and AAP, questioning whether they would denounce Moitra's remarks.
