The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has emerged victorious in all four West Bengal seats contested in recent by-elections. Party leader Kunal Ghosh emphasized that voters who previously supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are now looking to TMC, reflecting a significant shift in political allegiance.

Ghosh confidently declared that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre would not retain power for much longer, predicting a pivotal role for the INDIA alliance and the TMC in future governance. 'The game has started,' he said, expressing optimism about TMC's growing influence.

Supti Pandey, TMC's leading candidate from Maniktala Assembly constituency, expressed gratitude to her team and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for their support, as she secured a lead of over 62,000 votes. Other TMC candidates Krishna Kalyani, Mukut Mani Adhikari, and Madhuparna Thakur also emerged victorious in their respective constituencies.

However, BJP leader Shankar Ghosh indicated that the party would closely examine the election results at the booth level to identify any shortcomings. He also mentioned alleged violence by TMC impacting the results. West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 62.71% for the by-elections.

The by-polls were held as candidates from various constituencies vacated their seats to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. While TMC aims to maintain its dominance, BJP is striving to recover from its seat loss in the previous parliamentary elections. The vote counting for 13 legislative assembly seats across seven states began on Saturday.

Polling took place on July 10 in several states, including Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. In total, 13 assembly seats were contested, with key battles observed between BJP, Congress, TMC, and DMK.(ANI)
