US President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump during an election rally in Pennsylvania, emphasizing that there is no place for violence in America.
Trump, the 78-year-old former president, was injured after being shot in the ear during the apparent assassination attempt. The attacker killed one spectator and critically injured two others before being shot dead by a Secret Service agent.
In a national address, Biden stated, “Look, there is no place in America for this kind of violence. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow this to be happening.” Biden altered his weekend plans to return to the White House and thanked the Secret Service and state agencies for their swift response.
