BJP Protests Against Rising Electricity Bills in Delhi

BJP leaders and workers protested outside power discom offices in Delhi against rising electricity bills and demanded the withdrawal of increased power purchase adjustment charges (PPAC). They argued that PPAC, which fluctuates with coal and fuel prices, is unfair to consumers. Protests were held across various parts of the city.

BJP leaders and workers on Monday held protests outside power discom offices across Delhi to express their discontent with the rising electricity bills, demanding the rollback of increased power purchase adjustment charges (PPAC).

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva stated that electricity consumers are struggling to manage the rise in PPAC, a surcharge designed to cover the fluctuating costs of purchasing power, which has increased by 6.75 to 8.75 per cent this year.

During a protest in Karkardooma, Sachdeva accused the Delhi government of exploiting consumers through PPAC and pension surcharges, calling for an immediate withdrawal of the charges. He emphasized that BJP workers will persist with their protests until the government concedes.

Party MPs, MLAs, and senior leaders participated in protests throughout the city. North East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari claimed that consumers are paying more in surcharges than in their actual bills, criticizing the AAP government for its false promise of free electricity.

In Vasant Kunj, South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led government has failed to audit power company accounts, accusing them of partnering with these companies to exploit the people of Delhi. Other notable protestors included Bansuri Swaraj, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, OP Sharma, Vijendra Gupta, Abhay Verma, and Anil Bajpayi.
