BJP national president J P Nadda on Friday labeled the Congress as a 'parasite party' that relies on others' votes, thereby weakening alliance partners.
Speaking at the Odisha BJP's state executive meeting, Nadda accused the Congress of damaging the Constitution while now positioning themselves as democracy protectors. He referenced the Emergency period under Indira Gandhi to illustrate his point.
Nadda highlighted the BJP's vast acceptance across India, claiming 57% support from the population and governance over 58% of the country's area. He noted the Congress's diminishing presence in 13 states and its dependence on other parties. He emphasized the BJP's dominance in direct contests with the Congress, pointing out the BJP's 62 to 2 seat victory in key states.
Nadda also criticized the Congress's election strike rate and performance over the last three Lok Sabha polls. He thanked Odisha for its support as the BJP formed its first government in the state and vowed to focus on the development of tribals and Scheduled Castes.
The Odisha BJP, holding its initial executive meeting in Puri post-election victory, discussed the political climate and future welfare programs.
