Pakistan's election commission has decided to comply with the Supreme Court's order to allot reserved seats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party led by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, a media report stated on Saturday. This move will elevate PTI to the status of the largest party in Parliament.

A 13-member full bench of the Supreme Court, in an 8-5 judgment last week, ruled that PTI was entitled to seats reserved for women and minorities in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies. As a result, PTI’s seats in the National Assembly will rise from 86 to 109.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Friday that it would enforce the court's decision after holding meetings to deliberate on the matter. The ECP has instructed its legal team to identify any obstacles, allowing the court to be approached for guidance. The commission condemned criticism against the chief election commissioner and members, particularly from PTI.
