Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound sustained during the assassination bid on him in Pennsylvania on July 13, a former physician to Trump has said in a memorandum.

The 78-year-old candidate survived the attempt on his life when a young shooter fired multiple shots at him at a campaign rally, injuring his right ear. The attack resulted in one death and two serious injuries among rally attendees.

The 20-year-old suspected shooter was subsequently killed by Secret Service agents.

Dr. Ronny L Jackson, Trump's former appointed physician, confirmed his concern and ongoing care for Trump following the incident. 'I have been with President Trump since that time and I have evaluated and treated his wound daily. He is doing well,' Jackson stated.

Trump initially received treatment at Butler Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania before being transferred to Bedminster, New Jersey, where Dr. Jackson personally oversees his recovery. Jackson detailed the nature of Trump's injuries, emphasizing that the swelling has resolved and the wound is healing properly.

'In summary, former President Trump is doing well and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound... I am extremely thankful his life was spared. It is an absolute miracle he wasn't killed,' Dr. Jackson added.

Trump held a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, alongside running mate Ohio Senator J D Vance, marking his return to the campaign trail post-assassination attempt.
