Political Tensions Rise in Andhra Pradesh Assembly Amidst Protests

The second session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly commenced on a stormy note, with YSRCP members raising slogans and protesting against alleged attacks on opposition party activists in the state. The protest culminated in a walkout.
Governor S Abdul Nazeer addressed both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council on Monday. In his speech, Nazeer mentioned that the government plans to propose a budget following meaningful deliberations. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to release three white papers on law and order, excise, and state finances during the session.
The assembly session marked the attendance of 88 new MLAs and nine MLCs, along with experienced legislators. YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and opposition party legislators arrived wearing black scarves and chanting slogans over the allegedly deteriorating law and order situation in the state. They were intercepted by police at the assembly gate, leading to further confrontations and a press release from YSRCP accusing police of misconduct. Inside the House, the opposition began chanting slogans during the Governor’s speech, eventually staging a walkout led by Reddy.
