The BJP in Karnataka on Wednesday announced its plan to stage a day-and-night dharna in both the Legislative Assembly and Council to protest the lack of discussion on the alleged fraudulent land allotment by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which allegedly involves plots distributed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife.
The opposition's attempt to discuss the issue was thwarted today, prompting the BJP to accuse the ruling Congress of shielding the Chief Minister’s family from scrutiny. Assembly Speaker U T Khader dismissed the BJP's motion, arguing that the matter was neither urgent nor of immediate occurrence.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders, including State BJP President B Y Vijayendra and Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, have vowed to hold an overnight protest while condemning the Speaker’s conduct. They allege that the Congress government is avoiding transparency and running away from a discussion on what's being called the MUDA scam.
