Reflecting on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections where the INDIA bloc outperformed the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya acknowledged the party's overconfidence as a factor in their defeat. Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Maurya emphasized that elections are won by the party's efforts, not the government's strength.
Maurya took aim at Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of betraying the backward classes and contributing to his own political downfall. According to Maurya, Yadav has become a pawn of Congress, spreading falsehoods about the abolition of the Constitution and misleading the public.
Maurya also criticized the Congress party, suggesting it manipulates Yadav to further its agenda. He contrasted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with Prime Minister Modi, questioning Gandhi's credibility as a champion of the poor. On July 26, Yadav had called Maurya a 'pawn,' to which Maurya retorted by labelling Yadav as the 'pawn' of Congress, urging him to save his party from extinction.
