Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has severely criticized the BJP's proposed padayatra, calling it an effort to create an issue out of a non-issue concerning the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. 'Congress wants to ask them what they have done in their tenure. It was the most scandalous government BJP ever had,' Shivakumar stated.
The Karnataka Cabinet earlier on Thursday decided to advise Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot to retract the show-cause notice issued to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. Governor Gehlot had issued this notice to CM Siddaramaiah on July 27.
In response to the notice, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed that comprehensive details have been presented by the Cabinet to advocate for the withdrawal and rejection of the complaint. 'The details have already been given by the council of the minister after the decision has been taken advising the governor to withdraw the show cause notice served to me and to reject the complaint filed by TJ Abraham,' Siddaramaiah said.
The BJP has announced a seven-day 'padayatra' starting August 3 to protest against the alleged misdemeanors of the Siddaramaiah government. This follows a complaint by social activist Snehamayi Krishna accusing CM Siddaramaiah and others of forging documents to claim compensation from MUDA.
The complaint further alleges misconduct by Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed ownership of land, along with his family. Allegedly, MUDA created fake documents to acquire plots worth crores. Snehamayi Krishna's complaint includes several pointed questions against Siddaramaiah and his associates. (ANI)
