Bihar Congress to Launch Agitation Over Special Category Status Denial

The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) has declared a statewide agitation commencing on August 12, voicing their opposition to the Centre's refusal to grant Bihar special category status.
Party chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh described the denial as a severe injustice and unacceptable to the Congress. He detailed protest plans, including dharnas outside block and district magistrate offices on August 13 and 14, with further actions to be announced after August 14.
Highlighting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's ongoing advocacy since 2005, Singh criticized the NDA government, alleging that they included old projects in the recent special package and accused them of undermining Bihar’s development needs. He called for accountability from the Chief Minister and answers for the people of Bihar.
