Union Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday emphasized that the primary goal of the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is to oust the current government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. 'Our fight is to remove this government, not just Siddaramaiah. This government is totally against the people of Karnataka. They are looting the state,' Kumaraswamy told ANI.
This statement comes amid the ongoing controversy involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who faces allegations of involvement in the Valmiki Corporation and Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scams. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi echoed the sentiment, insisting that Siddaramaiah must resign. 'We will fight tooth and nail. Karnataka CM has to resign; he has no other option,' Joshi asserted. The BJP-JD(S) coalition had earlier orchestrated a week-long protest march, the Mysuru Chalo Padayatra, demanding Siddaramaiah's resignation over the alleged scandals.
In retaliation, the Congress launched a 'Jan Andolan Yatra' earlier this month to counter the BJP's accusations and the protest march. The controversy escalated after social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint accusing Siddaramaiah and nine others of forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority. The complaint alleges that Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, and others used fake documents to secure plots worth crores of rupees.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) of concocting allegations to destabilize his administration following their failure in 'Operation Kamala.' 'BJP and JDS parties are making allegations against me to destabilize the government. Since their failure to destabilize the government through Operation Kamala, they are making such accusations,' Siddaramaiah countered. The BJP has demanded that the land allotments given to Siddaramaiah's family be returned, accusing him of usurping lands belonging to the Dalit community. (ANI)
