In a two-hour interview streamed on Elon Musk's platform X, former President Donald Trump addressed a range of topics amid technical glitches. Musk attributed the delays to a cyberattack, although the claim remains unverified. The conversation saw both men exchanging praise, with Musk lauding Trump for his bravery during an alleged assassination attempt and Trump commending Musk's handling of labor strikes.
During the interview, Trump criticized his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and spread misinformation, including false claims about immigration and rising bacon prices. Musk, who has publicly endorsed Trump, did not challenge these inaccuracies. Trump's strategy appeared to be focused on diverting attention from Harris, who recently surged in polls following her entry into the presidential race.
Trump's return to X marked his first posts on the platform in a year, reviving a critical communication channel for his 2024 campaign. Despite his frequent use of Truth Social, a platform he launched in February 2022, Trump's messages reach a far larger audience on X. Musk's external super PAC, supporting Trump, is currently under investigation for possible violations of voter information laws in Michigan.
