The BJP's West Bengal unit on Monday raised serious questions regarding the swift reinstatement of Sandip Ghosh as the principal of a government medical college. This came hours after his resignation amidst the controversy over the alleged rape-murder of a woman doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar criticized Ghosh's rapid reappointment as the principal of National Medical College and Hospital, seeking an explanation for the rationale behind this decision. 'We want to know what exceptional or noteworthy work he has done to warrant such influence,' Majumdar stated during a press conference.

In addition, Majumdar accused miscreants, who vandalized the hospital on August 15, of operating with impunity and questioned the renovation work at the crime scene. He demanded clarity on who authorized the renovation of the floor housing the seminar hall where the crime allegedly occurred. The renovation work was halted after doctors protested.

Majumdar, who also serves as a Union Minister of State, insisted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee clarify who initially informed the victim's parents that their daughter had died by suicide. He also questioned why an unnatural death case was registered instead of a murder case, given the incident took place in the hospital where the victim worked.

Further, Majumdar queried the decision to conduct the victim's post-mortem at RG Kar Hospital and suggested that it could have been done at another government hospital in the city.
