The BJP on Monday denounced its Lok Sabha MP and film actor Kangana Ranaut for her disparaging remarks on the farmers agitation, expressing disagreement and clarifying she is neither permitted nor authorized to comment on the party's policy matters.

'The Bharatiya Janata Party has directed Kangana Ranaut to not make any statement of this kind in future,' the ruling party stated as her controversial remarks threatened to inflame an issue it has tried hard to contain over the last few years.

The Mandi MP had posted a clip of her interview suggesting that a 'Bangladesh-like situation' could have erupted in India but for the strong leadership. She alleged that 'bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place' during the farmers' protest against the now-repealed three farm laws and implicated China and the US.

The BJP firmly stated, 'The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is not the opinion of the party. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with the statement.' As the BJP distanced itself from her remarks, Congress demanded her expulsion, urging the government to clarify her allegations about the US and China.

Haryana, with significant farmer support, goes to polls soon, and BJP aims to avoid repercussions from Ranaut's comments. The party asserted its commitment to 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas' and social harmony. Known for her controversial opinions, this public disavowal is the party's most unambiguous stand against Ranaut's comments, having previously cautioned her in private.
