Kashmir Assembly Polls: 14 More Candidates File Nominations for Second Phase
Fourteen candidates filed nominations on Tuesday for the second phase of the Kashmir Assembly elections, bringing the total number to 26. The elections will cover 26 constituencies on September 25. Key candidates, including NC vice president Omar Abdullah, are expected to file soon. Voting spans three phases, concluding on October 1.

Fourteen candidates filed their nominations on Tuesday for the second phase of the three-phase Assembly polls in Kashmir, officials confirmed, increasing the total number of nominees to 26.
A total of 26 constituencies are scheduled to vote in the second phase on September 25. Fifteen of these constituencies are in the valley, covering Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Budgam districts.
The phase includes key Assembly seats such as Kangan (reserved for Scheduled Tribes), Ganderbal, Hazratbal, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Lal Chowk, Channapora, Zadibal, Eidgah, Central Shalteng, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib, Chrar-i-Sharief, and Chadoora.
Officials stated that 14 candidates submitted their nominations on Tuesday for the Kashmir valley seats, bringing the total nominees so far to 26.
Notably, National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah, running for Ganderbal, is likely to file his nomination on Wednesday.
The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is September 5, with document scrutiny scheduled for September 6. Candidates have until September 9 to withdraw their nominations.
Jammu and Kashmir is set to hold its elections in three phases—September 18, September 25, and October 1—with vote counting starting on October 8.
