UK Imposes Sanctions on Russian Chemical Weapon Troops

The UK has imposed sanctions on Russian troops involved in chemical weapon use in Ukraine, targeting Igor Kirillov and the Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defence Troops. The sanctions follow those on the Russian cyber-crime group Evil Corp. London seeks to uphold international law against Russian 'inhumane tactics'.

The United Kingdom has announced new sanctions against Russian military units reportedly involved in deploying chemical weapons in Ukraine. The focus is on the Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defence Troops of Russia and its leader, Igor Kirillov.

David Lammy, Britain's foreign minister, declared that the UK refuses to ignore Russia's alleged violations of international regulations, including the Chemical Weapons Convention. Lammy condemned these actions as 'cruel and inhumane'.

These sanctions succeed last week's targeting of 16 individuals from Russia's Evil Corp, a cyber-crime organization accused of carrying out operations against NATO allies. The Russian embassy in London has not yet provided comments in response to these latest measures.
