A delegation from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) approached the Election Commission on Saturday, alleging misconduct by West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar. The leaders submitted memoranda claiming Majumdar insulted the State emblem and police, and criticized the deployment of central forces without state police for upcoming bypolls.
The TMC, represented by prominent members including parliamentary leaders and MPs, expressed their frustration at the lack of a formal meeting with the Election Commission. Despite prior notice, they were unable to secure an appointment, raising concerns about the Commission's neutrality and accusing it of being influenced by the central government.
The party demanded immediate action and an apology from Majumdar for his derogatory remarks against national symbols. They emphasized the need for balanced force deployment to ensure free and fair elections, referencing violations of the Election Commission's own guidelines.
