The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), under the leadership of Chair Brendan Carr, has initiated an investigation into Comcast’s promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. This decision follows a letter addressed to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, aiming to ensure compliance with civil rights protections as mandated by the Communications Act.

Comcast has confirmed receipt of the inquiry and pledged cooperation. In a public statement, the company emphasized its commitment to integrity and respect across its workforce and customer base. Commissioner Anna Gomez criticized Carr's probe, urging the FCC to focus on its primary goals, such as bridging the digital divide and safeguarding consumer interests.

The investigation, which also extends to several media firms, aligns with broader efforts initiated by the Trump administration to dismantle DEI programs. Concurrently, the FCC is assessing CBS's '60 Minutes' interview with then Vice President Kamala Harris, considering potential 'news distortion' violations, amid ongoing reviews of media integrity and content accuracy.
